Simon Cowell experienced a poignant moment with Liam Payne's parents at a private service held for the deceased pop star on Wednesday.
Payne, who passed away at the age of 31, was honored, with Cowell, who founded One Direction on "The X Factor," present.
In a photograph, the music magnate hugs Geoff and Karen Payne as the mourning father holds Cowell tightly.
Another image captured Cowell wiping his eyes as Geoff places a hand on the "AGT" judge's back.
Cowell was also seen appearing serious while walking hand in hand with his partner, Lauren Silverman.
